The Jazz Lounge Is Becoming One of Buffalo’s Most Exciting New Traditions

Another sold-out evening on May 28 signals growing enthusiasm for a reimagined jazz experience, helping shape Buffalo’s downtown cultural identity.

When we first imagined The Jazz Lounge, we believed there was room in Buffalo for something different.

Not simply another concert.

Not nostalgia.

But an experience.

An evening where jazz and the Great American Songbook could once again be presented in an environment worthy of the sophistication, elegance, joy, and artistry this music has always deserved.

The response has exceeded anything we could have imagined.

With another sold-out evening ahead on May 28 featuring the Wendell Rivera Latin Jazz Ensemble, we are filled with gratitude and excitement for what is becoming one of Buffalo’s most unique and meaningful cultural experiences.

Throughout the years, jazz has often been associated with dim spaces, hidden rooms, and images carried over from another era. Yet the truth is that this music—and the Great American Songbook—has never sounded better, looked better, or felt more alive.

At The Jazz Lounge, held in the historic Rendezvous Room of the Statler, we are embracing a different vision.

A vision where jazz moves from the image of the once smoke-filled basement into a beautifully designed Art Deco-inspired room. A place where dressing up is welcomed and appreciated. A place where cocktails, conversation, community gathering, and extraordinary music create something that feels both timeless and entirely new.

Because jazz has always belonged among elegance.

And cities with thriving arts and culture have long understood that the Jazz Lounge is more than a venue concept—it becomes part of a city’s identity and part of the rhythm of downtown life.

Cities such as New York City with Birdland Jazz Club, Chicago with The Green Mill Cocktail Lounge, Paris with Le Duc des Lombards, and London with Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club have long embraced jazz spaces as cultural anchors—places where music, nightlife, elegance, and community gathering become inseparable from the character of a city itself.

We believe Buffalo belongs in that conversation.

We believe Buffalo deserves that.

The overwhelming response to The Jazz Lounge affirms that there is an appetite for experiences that encourage people to gather downtown, enjoy an evening out, reconnect with friends, support local businesses, and experience music in an elevated setting.

What has been most rewarding, however, has been your trust.

To everyone who attended one of our first evenings, thank you.

Thank you for allowing us to experiment, learn, refine, and grow this concept in real time.

Thank you for your patience.

Thank you for your encouragement.

Thank you for believing there is room in Buffalo for something elegant, distinctive, and rooted in community.

Your comments, enthusiasm, and continued support have encouraged us to think even bigger.

And while we are excited for another sold-out evening with the Wendell Rivera Latin Jazz Ensemble, we are perhaps even more excited about what lies ahead.

We look forward to expanding The Jazz Lounge experience and announcing more fabulous evenings in the months ahead.

Buffalo deserves a Jazz Lounge.

And together, we are building one.
