Internationally acclaimed pianist Alfredo Rodriguez represents another extraordinary reason to become part of the Jazz at Kleinhans 2026–2027 season.
One of the exciting aspects of building Jazz at Kleinhans is creating opportunities for Buffalo audiences to experience artists who are shaping where jazz is headed next.
Artists who honor tradition while pushing forward.
Artists who bring audiences somewhere unexpected.
This season, Jazz at Kleinhans proudly welcomes the extraordinary Alfredo Rodriguez and his acclaimed trio—an artist widely recognized as one of the most inventive and compelling pianists performing today.
For audiences who may not yet know Alfredo Rodriguez, this performance may become one of the most exciting discoveries of the entire season.

Born in Cuba and celebrated internationally for his dazzling technique, rhythmic imagination, and genre-defying approach, Rodriguez has created a distinctive artistic voice that draws from jazz, Afro-Cuban traditions, classical music, Latin influences, and contemporary improvisation. His performances possess both virtuosity and accessibility—music that feels sophisticated while remaining joyful, energetic, and deeply human.
Adding to his remarkable story is the fact that Rodriguez was discovered and championed by the legendary Quincy Jones, who immediately recognized his extraordinary gifts and helped introduce him to audiences around the world. Since then, Rodriguez has built an international career and emerged as one of the most exciting pianists of his generation.
There is a sense of adventure in an Alfredo Rodriguez performance.
His trio format creates an intimate but explosive musical conversation—moments of breathtaking interplay balanced with melody, groove, spontaneity, and emotional connection.
At Jazz at Kleinhans, audiences will experience an artist whose career continues to ascend internationally and whose performances consistently leave audiences inspired and energized.
This concert also represents something important in the broader vision of Jazz at Kleinhans.
Alongside artists such as Nicole Zuraitis, Champian Fulton and Carmen Bradford, and Ann Hampton Callaway, Alfredo Rodriguez completes a season intentionally designed to celebrate the breadth and vitality of jazz today—from the Great American Songbook to contemporary voices and global artistry.
Together, these four performances reflect our belief that Buffalo deserves a permanent premier jazz program and center presenting world-class artistry inside one of America’s great concert halls.
And while not included in the Four-Concert Subscription Package, the special Main Hall presentation of Branford Marsalis and Dianne Reeves Celebrate the Ballads of John Coltrane further reflects the growing vision of Jazz at Kleinhans—bringing extraordinary artists together for singular experiences that continue elevating Buffalo and establishing Jazz at Kleinhans as a premier destination for jazz artistry.
