There are moments when you realize you’re building something bigger than you first imagined.
For me, Jazz at Kleinhans has become one of those moments.
When we launched Jazz at Kleinhans, our hope was simple: bring world-class jazz artists to one of America’s great concert halls while creating an experience that celebrated the Great American Songbook, the artistry of jazz, and the joy of gathering through music.
We believed Buffalo would embrace that vision.
The response has been both humbling and inspiring.
Throughout our inaugural season, audiences filled the Mary Seaton Room and Kleinhans Music Hall to experience remarkable artists and unforgettable performances. We celebrated the timeless songs of Tony Bennett with John Pizzarelli. We witnessed the extraordinary artistry of Emmet Cohen’s Miles & Coltrane at 100 concert. We watched the excitement of a Louis Prima, Jr. sell out. Most importantly, we watched something else begin to happen.
People returned.
They greeted familiar faces before concerts. They lingered afterward to talk about the music. They introduced friends to the experience. They began to think of Jazz at Kleinhans as more than a concert.
It was becoming a place to gather.
It was becoming a community.
That may be the most meaningful accomplishment of all.
Great cultural traditions are never built in a single season. They grow because people believe they are worth supporting. They grow because audiences return. They grow because artists discover a welcoming home. And they grow because a city embraces them as part of its cultural identity.
That is why a second season matters.
Our 2026–2027 Jazz at Kleinhans season continues that journey with an extraordinary collection of artists who celebrate both the timeless legacy of the Great American Songbook and the future of jazz.

The season opens on Sunday, November 8, with Grammy Award-winning vocalist, pianist, composer, and arranger Nicole Zuraitis, joined by her husband, Grammy Award-winning drummer and composer Dan Pugach. Together they represent one of today’s most inspiring creative partnerships, bringing Buffalo an evening that celebrates both the Great American Songbook and what Nicole has aptly called the Modern Songbook—new songs destined to become tomorrow’s classics.
As the holidays approach, Swinging in the Holidays fills the Mary Seaton Room with warmth, joy, and timeless music. Featuring pianist and vocalist Champian Fulton, Grammy Award-winning vocalist Carmen Bradford, and acclaimed jazz singer Vanessa Perea, this special holiday celebration promises an afternoon of seasonal favorites, swinging arrangements, and the unmistakable spirit of the Great American Songbook.
In February, Tony Award-nominated Broadway and jazz legend Ann Hampton Callaway returns to Buffalo to celebrate one of our city’s greatest musical treasures—Harold Arlen. Few artists embody the storytelling tradition of the Great American Songbook more completely than Callaway, making this celebration of Buffalo’s legendary songwriter especially meaningful.
March welcomes internationally acclaimed pianist Alfredo Rodriguez, whose breathtaking artistry blends jazz, Latin rhythms, and contemporary expression into a musical language all his own. His appearance reflects Jazz at Kleinhans’ commitment to celebrating both the traditions of jazz and the exciting directions the music continues to explore.

The season then reaches an extraordinary conclusion in April when multiple Grammy Award winners Branford Marsalis and Dianne Reeves come together in the Kleinhans Main Hall for a special presentation celebrating The Ballads of John Coltrane. While this landmark event is presented separately from the Four-Concert Package, it serves as a fitting culmination to a season that showcases jazz at its highest artistic level and reinforces Buffalo’s growing reputation as a destination for world-class performances.
Together, these artists tell a much larger story.
They represent the past, present, and future of jazz.
They celebrate the enduring beauty of the Great American Songbook while embracing the creativity that continues to shape the music today.
And they remind us that Buffalo deserves to experience artists of this caliber in one of the world’s great concert halls.
More than 100 music lovers have already reserved their place for the 2026–2027 Jazz at Kleinhans season.
That number means far more than seats reserved.
It represents people who believe Buffalo deserves a premier jazz program.
People who believe the Great American Songbook continues to inspire new generations.
People who believe that world-class jazz belongs at Kleinhans Music Hall.
Most importantly, it represents people who understand that great communities are built one gathering at a time.
Over the past several months, we’ve often shared a simple message:
We’re building something special together.
Jazz at Kleinhans is an important part of that vision.
When you choose the Jazz at Kleinhans Four-Concert Package, you’re doing more than reserving four remarkable performances.
You’re helping build a tradition.
You’re helping create a place where audiences gather, artists feel welcomed, and Buffalo continues to strengthen its place as one of America’s great music cities.
Our specially priced Four-Concert Package remains available through Monday, July 13.
We would be honored to welcome you into our growing Jazz at Kleinhans community.
Because a second season isn’t simply the continuation of a successful program.
It’s the beginning of something that can endure for generations.
