One of the most exciting parts of Summer of Jazz is that it represents something much larger than a series of performances.
It represents a vision.
A vision of downtown Buffalo becoming a place where people gather around music, conversation, and shared experiences.
Today, JazzBuffalo Executive Director Tony Zambito joined Kelly Dudzik on Most Buffalo on WGRZ Channel 2 to discuss the inspiration behind Summer of Jazz and how Ellicott Street will be transformed into a destination for music and community throughout the summer.
During the conversation, Tony shared how Summer of Jazz is designed to be more than a concert series.
It is about creating moments. It is about creating a gathering.
An afternoon where friends and families gather.
A familiar song that inspires people to dance.
A downtown street that becomes a gathering place filled with music, conversation, and connection.
Beginning Sunday, July 12, Summer of Jazz will take audiences on a musical journey around the world—starting with the timeless sounds of the Great American Songbook and the 18-piece Anderson Big Band, followed by stops inspired by Paris, Latin jazz, Italy and Andrea Bocelli’s timeless melodies, New Orleans, and Brazil.
The opening celebration features:
