After months of planning, imagining, and building together, tomorrow we begin something special.
The first notes of Summer of Jazz will fill Ellicott Street as the 18-piece Anderson Big Band brings the timeless sounds of swing and the Great American Songbook to downtown Buffalo.
There is something magical about a full big band.
The energy of the brass.
The swing of the rhythm section.
The melodies that have brought generations together.
But tomorrow is about more than the music.
It is about gathering. Gathering with family, friends, and as a community.
It is about friends and families sharing an afternoon. It is about a downtown street becoming a dance floor, an outdoor jazz café, and a place where our community comes together.
This opening celebration is the beginning of six musical journeys throughout the summer.

Join us tomorrow:
* Summer of Jazz Presents: Big Band Celebration
* Ellicott Street in front of Tappo Restaurant
* Sunday, July 12
* 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM
* Free and open to everyone
Tables and chairs will be available throughout the street, with additional space for those who prefer to bring their own lawn chairs. Bring an umbrella for shade, enjoy a special menu from Tappo, and settle in for an afternoon of great music.
Bring your family. Bring your friends. Bring your dancing shoes.
We can’t wait to see you tomorrow.
With gratitude,
Tony
