Sunday, March 24, 2019 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

The Buffalo Jazz Collective Repertory Orchestra is very excited to feature bassist Sabu Adeyola at Flying Bison Brewing Company.

Bassist Sabu Adeyola, protégé to the late jazz master Charles Mingus, is one of jazz music’s finest. As a member of the most celebrated trios to have toured with legendary pianist Ahmad Jamal, Sabu (with Payton Crossley) incorporated a spiritual swing to Ahmad’s signature style.

Sabu has spent his career touring, performing, and recording with industry elites including: Abbey Lincoln, Ahmad Jamal, Charlie Byrd, Donald Byrd, George Caldwell, Payton Crossley, Dexter Gordon, Whitney Marchelle, ‘Onaje’ Allan Gumbs, Elvin Shepherd, Leon Thomas, Allen Tinney, “Big” Joe Turner, Mal Waldron, “Big” Walter, Grover Washington Jr., Azzeddin Weston, Randy Weston, Roy Haynes, Flip Phillips, Cassandra Wilson and Gary Burton.

Formed in 2017 by founder and director Jacob Jay, the BJC Repertory Orchestra is an 18-piece big band comprised of the top young professional musicians in the Western New York area. The Repertory Orchestra pays tribute to the jazz tradition through performing repertoire by historically important jazz musicians, composers, and band leaders.
