The Kristen Smigielski Combo:
Kristen Smigielski is a vocalist currently based in Buffalo, NY. She sings a diverse range of music, from Jazz and Pop, to Classical and Contemporary. She completed her Master of Music in Voice Performance from the University at Buffalo, having received both the Baird and Opera Scholarships. Additionally, she studied choir conducting, and received a scholarship to attend the Harold Rosenbaum International Choir Conducting Institute. She has taught voice and piano privately for years, and was also a Teaching Assistant in voice with the Music Department at Buffalo State College. Kristen is pursuing her second graduate degree, a Master of Science in Education, at Buffalo State College. She is a member of the JazzBuffalo Advisory Council, and performs in many local bands, as well as her own Jazz combo.
The Kristen Smigielski Combo puts their own spin on the classic Jazz standards, bringing old music to a new generation. Together they perform at many events, venues, and festivals across New York State. In addition, they volunteer their musical talents at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, and Oishei Children’s Hospital of Buffalo.
The Historic Colored Musicians Club:
There is no other place in the world like Buffalo’s Colored Musicians Club
The club offers live jazz in an intimate setting, and some of the best jazz you can find anywhere. It is open to non-members who want to share a love of jazz, and are seeking a relaxing time in a friendly place.
If you are a musician, young or old, you can come in for our Sunday night “Jam Sessions” or join a group. If you are learning to play, we are your first networking stop to meet up with recognized touring artists. Making these connections present the richest of learning opportunities for a music rooted in this unique “each one, teach one” genre that we call JAZZ.
If you don’t play, but you love jazz, you can just have a drink and listen in the company of other people who share your love for the music. It’s all about the music.
No matter your interest, we thrive and survive on your member support. Become a member today, and be “in the know.”
