Elliot Scozzaro Quintet
Thursday, October 10, 2024 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm
$13 – $15
Join us as we honor the legacy and music of Benny Golson. Born in Philadelphia, Benny played in the bands of Lionel Hampton, Dizzy Gillespie, and Art Blakey before co-founding the Jazz-tet in 1959, which he led with Art Farmer. In the 1960s, Benny left for Hollywood to compose music for television shows such as M*A*S*H, The Mod Squad, and Mission Impossible. In the mid-1970s, Benny returned to performing and recording. He was named an NEA jazz Master in 1996.
The quintet will perform a wide range of compositions by Benny, including Stablemates, Along Came
Betty, and Are You Real? along with music from The Modern Touch, Gone with Golson, Gettin’ with It, and others.
