Jazz Pianist George Burton

Thursday, February 16 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

$10

New York City jazz pianist George Burton will perform at Buffalo State University on Thursday, February 16, at 7:30 p.m. in the Ciminelli Recital Hall in Rockwell Hall.

His performance, which is sponsored by the Buffalo State Music Department, is part of the university’s Lois R. Klein Piano Recital Series.

Described by critics as “painting with a vast palette,” “sublime,” and “multidimensional,” Burton has performed throughout the United States and Europe. He was also an NAACP Image Award nominee for Outstanding Jazz Album – Instrumental for his landmark album Reciprocity. His song Finding was selected as a finalist in the 2021 International Songwriting Competition.

“George is a beautiful pianist who shares his love through every sound and every silence,” said Emily Boyce, associate professor of piano. “His imagination reminds us of the limitless potential that remains in the great American art form of jazz and in the piano itself. We are honored and excited to add him to the roster of great artists who have appeared at Buffalo State as part of the Lois R. Klein Piano Recital Series.”

Burton will be accompanied by Dylan Band on tenor and soprano saxophone, Pablo Menares on bass, and Corey Rawls on drums.

Admission is free for students with ID and $10 for the general public. Tickets may be purchased in the Rockwell Hall Box Office, by phone at (716) 878-3005, or online.
