LIVE STREAMING EVENT: The Wayne Escoffery Quartet

Tenor saxophonist Wayne Escoffery celebrates the release of a new recording, “The Humble Warrior” with the first-ever live stream from Smoke Jazz Club featuring his powerful quartet with David Kikoski on piano, Ugonna Okegwo on bass, and drummer Carl Allen. A pròtegé of the late great Jackie McLean, Escoffery has worked notably with Eric Reed, Lonnie Plaxico, Abdullah Ibrahim, The Mingus Big Band/ Orchestra/ Dynasty, Ben Riley’s Monk Legacy Septet, and Tom Harrell. All About Jazz says, “Not since the works of Charles Mingus and saxophonist John Coltrane has there been music so charged with emotion and so engulfed in spirituality”.
