Niagara Parks in partnership with the Niagara Jazz Festival presented by TD Ready Commitment will host the kickoff to Niagara’s Jazz Festival 2024 Summer Festival Series with the POWER of MUSIC at Oakes Garden Theatre on Friday, June 21.

Set within one of Niagara Parks’ most spectacular outdoor venues overlooking the Falls, Oakes Garden Theatre, the evening will feature the Juno-nominated Blues group Blackburn Brothers, the Sean Stanley Quartet and an up-and-coming youth performer. Tickets to the evening event are $40 per person with $1 per ticket sold to be donated to MusiCounts Canada music education charity.

The Niagara Jazz Festival presented by TD Ready Commitment is an award-winning not-for-profit music festival dedicated to celebrating jazz and world music throughout the year with a summer festival in June. Now in its 11th season, the festival aims to inspire, educate and develop jazz audiences by combining live music with an immersive Niagara experience: food, wine, culture, attractions and natural wonders.

Blackburn Brothers

The award-winning Blues group led by a band of brothers whose musical lineage traces back to R&B legend Bobby Dean Blackburn. Blackburn Brothers’ most recent album SoulFunk’nBlues has received wide critical acclaim, including a 2024 Juno nomination for Blues Album of the Year and they have performed at many of the largest blues, jazz and folk music festivals across North America and in Central America.

The Blackburn Brothers are fourth-generation Canadians and descendants of freedom seekers through the Underground Railoard whose music tells a message of history, freedom, legacy, family, black unity and love.

Sean Stanley

The Toronto-based quartet proudly plays Jazz, Swing and the Blues, including the music of Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Ray Charles and Erroll Garner as well as original compositions. Their music ranges from smooth and sweet to hot and fiery but is always based in the blues and improvisation.

Sean Stanley, a Jazz pianist, vocalist and bandleader from Scarborough, Ontario, Canada, overcame homelessness and adversity to become one of Toronto’s few Indigenous Jazz musicians. Alongside his talented bandmates, Sean’s group is highly sought-after in the city’s Jazz scene.
