Jazz and Blues Summit at Jazz at Chandlerville Returns!
During the first season of Jazz at Chandlerville, one of the most talked-about concerts was that of the Phil DiRe and Speedy Parker Jazz and Blues Summit. We are bringing it back this season! Two of the region’s stalwart performers in jazz and blues for an evening of jazzy and bluesy music!
Buffalo Music Hall of Famer Phil DiRe has had a long storied history in Buffalo and in jazz history dating back to his days as founder of the original Buffalo Jazz Ensemble and Jazz on the steps of the Albright-Knox Art Gallery. Phil has performed with many legends in his days living out west in Palm Springs and Las Vegas including Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Keely Smith, Bily Eckstine, and more.
Gary Sterlace – AKA “Speedy Parker” – is the lead vocals & guitar for the Speedy Parker Blues Band. Since 1999, they have become one of the region’s most prolific blues bands entertaining audiences with their unique style of gritty and jazzy blues. Their song list incorporates music from such artists as Ronnie Earl and The Broadcasters, Jonny Lang, Buddy Guy, Son Seals, Etta James, Eric Clapton, BB King, Fabulous Thunderbirds, Coco Montoya, Earl King, Muddy Waters, Little Walter, John Lee Hooker, Lucky Peterson, Tab Benoit, Holmes Brothers, and other blues artists.
Joining in for this special reunion are:
Joe Calabrese – harmonica
Chuck Buffamonte – guitar
Jack Kulp – bass
Preston Brown – drums
Tony Zambito – percussion
It is going to be rollicking jazz and blues time in the Chandlerville neighborhood! Get there early to grab a table!
