Raíces Presents Songs From Desde el Puente

Raíces is a Latino Theatre Company dedicated to develop, nourish and produce modern and original works dealing with the Latino experience in order to preserve our “Raices” (roots). 

If you were not lucky enough to attend one of their shows this past May –  which won them a very well deserved “Proclamation by Buffalo’s Mayor Brown” – this is your chance to enjoy and support a dedicated group of artists committed and inspired to preserve the Latino culture.

It is impossible not to connect with some or all stories in this play. Many of the themes are not just Latino inspired/related but also strongly connected to all people with an immigrant background that at some point in their lives struggled to preserve and uphold the roots that defined their cultural heritage. Spanning from sexual prejudices to women’s struggles as mothers, partners, and professionals, to life in seclusion – all stories are linked to the central issues of survival, the need to have a strong identity and the importance of acknowledging and accepting one’s cultural roots. The play is funny, blunt and sad – all at once – a format that depicts stereotypes as they define subjects, societies, and general opinions.

All proceeds from this show will be used to further promote and produce recordings of all original songs written for this play.
