A collaboration between Buffalo saxophonist Elliot Scozzaro, bassist Joe Goehle, and drummer Devin Kelly will present a highly curated selection of songs written and/or recorded by legendary saxophone icon Sonny Rollins.

Mr. Rollins became an early champion of the “chord-less trio” format beginning in the mid to late 1950s, recording several seminal trio albums including “Way Out West” withRay Brown & Shelly Manne, “A Night at the Village Vanguard” featuring bassists Donald Bailey/Wilbur Ware & drummers Pete LaRoca/Elvin Jones and “The Freedom Suite” with Oscar Pettiford & Max Roach. He continued to perform in the trio format through the mid-1960s while touring Europe with notable sidemen, Henry Grimes, Bob Cranshaw, Kenny Clarke & Roy Haynes yielding additional live concert recordings. Featured song selections will include “Pent Up House”, “Valse Hot”, “Night in Tunisia”, “St. Thomas”, “Old Devil Moon”, “East Broadway Rundown”, “Sonnymoon for Two”, “I Can’t Get Started”, “Get Happy”, Softly as in a Morning Sunrise”, “Airegin” & “Namely You”, among others.
