Experience the era of Soul Jazz and Hard Bop with the jazz supergroup SOMETHING ELSE!, an all-star septet named for the 1958 Cannonball Adderley classic album!

SOMETHING ELSE! is a Soul Jazz Revue featuring a super all-star group of award-winning jazz musicians!   Experience some of the most iconic toe-tapping Soul Jazz songs ever created.  Live and in person!  The way they were meant to be heard and performed. The SOMETHING ELSE! supergroup takes you back to the era of fantastic, rhythmic, and soul-warming music.  Presenting classic soul jazz songs with new arrangements plus original compositions in the same soul jazz and hard bop style you love.

Many jazz fans constantly wonder what it would have been like to hear the songs of Cannonball Adderley, Horace Silver, Herbie Hancock, and more as intended in their original ensemble performance.

To experience soul jazz and hard-bop jazz songs – the songs you love – live and in concert, as they were intended – by some of the best jazz musicians of today – songs such as Moaning by Bobby Timmons, Song For My Father and Filthy McNasty by Horace Silver, Blues Walk by Lou Donaldson, Mercy Mercy by Cannonball Adderley, Hang Up Your Hang Ups by Herbie Hancock, I’m Not So Sure by Cedar Walton and other memory-evoking favorites of the time – then this is a must-see and must-hear concert to attend!

The SOMETHING ELSE! soul jazz ensemble will feature some of today’s biggest names in jazz!  Witness the sounds of VINCENT HERRING – alto saxophone, JAMES CARTER – tenor saxophone, RANDY BRECKER – trumpet, DAVE KIKOSKI – piano, PAUL BOLLENBACK – guitar, ESSIET ESSIET – bass, JEFF “TAIN” WATTS – drums.  An ensemble of Downbeat Magazine award-winners, Grammy® winners, and Grammy® nominees.

“The jazz supergroup Something Else!, a septet named for the 1958 Cannonball Adderley classic album, then followed with top-shelf soul-jazz and swing…Covering tunes from Cedar Walton, Horace Silver, Benny Golson, and others… the solos were fiery, especially from showman Carter who wowed us with his soprano solo and later with a tenor turn where he used his pads and various vocal/reed techniques to make it sound like a percussion instrument. Every one of these musicians is elite – it was an extraordinary set. “ – GLIDE

“…a really nice balance, between Vincent’s leadership, and so many strong voices. Great song selections and the segues were seamless and made the show interesting.” – Jazz Foundation of America

“Great band featuring saxophonists Vincent Herring and James Carter along with the great trumpeter Philly’s own Randy Brecker and drummer Jonathan Blake (son of the late great John Blake).  What a performance they put on!”  Exit Zero Jazz Festival
