“Marian McPartland & Friends: A Centennial Celebration of Life in Music”
Pianist, Krista Seddon, is currently on a lecture performance tour featuring the life and work of jazz great, Marian McPartland. As the world posthumously celebrates McPartland’s 100th birthday, Central Park United Methodist Church will participate in these celebrations and host a six-concert series featuring McPartland’s life and work with some of the world’s greatest jazz musicians.
Marian McPartland began her career as a classically trained pianist who found and fell in love with the world of jazz. It was something she wanted to make accessible to everyone and she did. McPartland collaborated with National Public Radio to create and host the radio show, Piano Jazz, which they broadcast right into the living rooms of music lovers around the globe for more than 30 years. Piano Jazz became the longest running cultural program in NPR history.
