Experience the Joyful Spirit of New Orleans in Downtown Buffalo

There are few cities in the world where music is woven so deeply into everyday life as New Orleans.

It spills from neighborhood streets and corner cafés. It fills parks, parades, and celebrations. It welcomes everyone with an irresistible invitation to clap along, smile, and simply enjoy the moment.

For one exciting summer afternoon, Summer of Jazz brings that joyful spirit to downtown Buffalo.

A Taste of New Orleans features the admired Fredtown Stompers, one of Western New York’s premier traditional jazz bands. Inspired by the music that gave birth to jazz, the Fredtown Stompers celebrate the timeless sounds of Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton, King Oliver, and the rich musical traditions that continue to define New Orleans today.

This is music meant to be shared.

It’s music for tapping your feet, clapping your hands, and gathering with family and friends on a beautiful summer afternoon. Whether you’re a lifelong fan of traditional jazz or discovering it for the very first time, you’ll find yourself swept up in the warmth, energy, and unmistakable joy that has made New Orleans the birthplace of America’s original art form.

Summer of Jazz is more than a concert series. It’s a collection of experiences that celebrates cultures from around the world while bringing our community together through music.

Join us as we gather for an afternoon inspired by the heart, hospitality, and timeless traditions of New Orleans.
