Summer of Jazz Presents: Big Band Dance featuring the Anderson Big Band

Sunday, July 12 @ 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Free

There’s nothing quite like the sound of a live big band on a summer afternoon.

On Sunday, July 12, the Summer of Jazz series kicks off with a Big Band Dance featuring the acclaimed Anderson Big Band, led by drummer, arranger, and JazzBuffalo Poll Jazz Artist of the Year John Anderson.

Bring your dancing shoes—or simply bring a chair and enjoy one of Western New York’s premier jazz ensembles as they fill Ellicott Street with the timeless sounds of the Swing Era and the Great American Songbook.

Whether you’re dancing, listening, or gathering with friends over food and drinks at Tappo Restaurant, this promises to be a special afternoon celebrating music, community, and the joy of being together in downtown Buffalo.

The Anderson Big Band is renowned for its exceptional musicianship, dynamic performances, and authentic big band sound, making it the perfect big band to launch another exciting Summer of Jazz season.

This free community event is part of a summer-long effort by ArtsBuffalo, JazzBuffalo, Tappo Restaurant, the Electric District Alliance, and community partners to bring new energy and vibrancy to downtown Buffalo through music and shared experiences.

Come experience the excitement of live big band music.

Dance if you’d like.

Listen if you prefer.

Most of all, come gather with us.
