Take Two: Interpretations of Thelonious Monk’s Solo Monk

Sunday, April 19, 2020 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Take Two is an immersive deep-listening night consisting of two elements: an uninterrupted, high-quality playback of a seminal jazz album, followed by a modern-day reinterpretation by New York City’s finest musicians.

Our tenth edition will feature Solo Monk, the 1965 classic album by the American jazz pianist and composer Thelonious Monk.

The 10 Best Thelonious Monk Albums To Own On Vinyl — Vinyl Me, Please

This event will be livestreamed so that you can watch it from the comfort of your own home. By hosting a virtual event, we are able to feature many of our favorite musicians at the same time.

You will hear a dozen different interpretations of songs from the album — all by musicians who have performed at our events before:

> Erik Deutsch // piano
> Pasquale Grasso // guitar
> Irwin Hall // tenor sax
> Endea Owens // bass
> Dave Scalia // drums
> Kirk Schoenherr // guitar
> Lucy Yeghiazaryan // vocals
> Spencer Zahn // bass, electronics

In an effort to directly support musicians as best we can, we welcome $10 suggested donations via Paypal or Venmo. 100% of the proceeds will go towards the participating musicians.

Include your email address with your donation as we’ll only send the video stream link the day before the event to people who reserved a ticket in advance.

If the US Eastern/New York timezone doesn’t work for you, we are having an additional CET/Paris session.
