In many ways, time is a construct, something we’ve built to contain ourselves, to measure, to control. But the great ones never let it cage them. Think of Anthony Braxton, Miles Davis, Kenny Garrett, Albert Ayler, Eddie Harris, Elvin Jones, artists who stretched form, fractured rhythm, bent expectation. They didn’t follow the current. They created it. No restraint. No apology. So maybe it’s not about keeping time. Maybe it’s about breaking it.Time to get be-bopped!
