The Jazz Lounge Presents: Sinatra in the Lounge

Zach Carr and My Cousin Toné Celebrate the Songs, Swing, and Style of Frank Sinatra
Thursday, October 29, 2026 | The Jazz Lounge at The Statler
Some voices become inseparable from the songs they sing.
For generations, Frank Sinatra has been one of those voices.
On Thursday, October 29, The Jazz Lounge at The Statler invites you to experience Sinatra in the Lounge, a special evening celebrating the music, style, and enduring legacy of one of the greatest interpreters of the Great American Songbook.
Featured vocalist Zach Carr joins My Cousin Toné, the eight-piece ensemble voted the region’s Favorite Large Jazz Ensemble in the annual JazzBuffalo Poll, for an evening devoted to the songs Sinatra made unforgettable.
It is a pairing that feels especially at home in The Jazz Lounge.
For 11 years, My Cousin Toné has been at the heart of JazzBuffalo’s popular JazzMondays, bringing audiences together each week for a swinging celebration of the Great American Songbook. That same spirit—the swing, the melodies, the sophisticated arrangements, and above all, the joy of these timeless songs—will provide the setting for Zach Carr to explore the Sinatra songbook.
For JazzBuffalo audiences, Carr has long been a favorite, earning perennial recognition in the annual JazzBuffalo Poll as the region’s Favorite Male Jazz Vocalist. A respected vocal coach and Vocal Director at Matt’s Music, Carr brings more than a fine voice to the stage—he brings an understanding of phrasing, interpretation, and how to tell the story inside a song.
Carr is also no stranger to the Sinatra songbook, having previously been featured by JazzBuffalo in Summer Wind: The Music of Frank Sinatra. For Sinatra in the Lounge, he returns to this timeless repertoire not to imitate Sinatra, but to capture what made these songs endure: the swing, the lyric, the storytelling, and the unmistakable feeling behind the music.
And what a songbook it is.
Sinatra possessed a remarkable ability to inhabit a song. He could swing with effortless confidence one moment and make a late-night ballad feel deeply personal the next. His phrasing, sense of rhythm, and attention to the meaning of a lyric transformed standards by Cole Porter, George and Ira Gershwin, Rodgers and Hart, Harold Arlen, and many others into performances that have endured across generations.
Sinatra in the Lounge will celebrate that legacy without attempting to imitate it.
Expect an evening that moves from swinging favorites such as Come Fly With Me, You Make Me Feel So Young, The Lady Is a Tramp, and I’ve Got You Under My Skin to the romance and intimacy of the songs that revealed Sinatra as one of America’s great musical storytellers.
But this evening is about more than the songs.
It is about experiencing them in a setting that feels made for this music.
The Jazz Lounge at The Statler has become one of JazzBuffalo’s most distinctive experiences—a place where exceptional live music meets the atmosphere of a classic night out. Gather with friends around a table, enjoy a cocktail, settle into the surroundings, and experience the music up close.
For Sinatra in the Lounge, that atmosphere becomes part of the evening.
The songs. The swing. The style. The stories.
A vocalist at the microphone. Eight musicians behind him. An intimate room filled with people sharing an evening together.
For one night, we’ll celebrate the music of Frank Sinatra the way we think it should be celebrated—not simply as a look back, but as a living part of the Great American Songbook that continues to swing, connect, and bring people together.
