The Other Side of Peggy Farrell

Thursday, August 13 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm
$17

Peggy Farrell is the Grande Dame of Buffalo jazz vocalists. She hails from a large musical family and started singing early on and was encouraged by pianist Anne Fadale. In the 60s she performed in NYC, often in famed Greenwich Village at clubs where Bob Dylan could be found. Upon returning to Buffalo she worked as a nurse at Millard Fillmore while raising her children.

Peggy met Al Tinney in 1983 began a nearly two decade long association performing with local legends Sabu Adeyola and Louis Marino . The quartet recorded the album “Peg and Al” in 2000. “The Other Side” will feature Peggy in a guitar based trio for the first time performing songs from the repertoire of Ray Charles, Willy Nelson, as well as Tin Pan Alley and Great American Songbook gems, well and lessor known.

Peggy will be accompanied by PAUSA alumni Stu Weissman on guitar, John Bacon on drums,

and Avery Weissman on upright bass. John and Stu first met in the mid-80s when they played

in the Buffalo Jazz Workshop for the Albright Knox Summer Jazz Series and they both met

Peggy around that time. This will be an intimate and delightful presentation in a supportive ambiance that only PAUSA art house can provide.
