Bossa Nova came to America like a cool but powerful force in the 60s era of blues-drenched pop, hard bop, and avant-garde jazz. It entered our consciousness through the music of Stan Getz, Charlie Byrd, Bud Shank, Sonny Rollins, and many others. Bossa was an expression of a relationship between Brazilian and American jazz of the 50s. It represented a “cooling’ of samba from carnival to coffeehouses. The Wazmopolitans will feature the music of originators of the music; Antonio Carlos Jobim and Joao Gilberto, who help develop the music and bring it to the US. Dave Wasik drums, Jack Kulp bass, Kevin Doyle piano and featuring Vanessa Elder on voice.
